BRANDING

BRANDING

Overview

For this project we were tasked with identifying some of the most prevalent pain points for students at Cal Poly Pomona. Through user interviews, my team identified that one of these issues is the lack of community.

Students struggle to find and stay up-to-date with campus events, and expressed hesitation to attend events when they are unsure who is attending. Campus events are posted across various platforms, creating a need for a centralized location.

Our solution was to create a centralized platform where the university, clubs, and organizations can post events and students can easily RSVP and see who is attending.

Role: User Researcher (team) (hybrid modality), UX/UI Designer, Brand Designer

Duration: 3 Months

Goal: Increase student engagement and build a stronger campus community by simplifying the event-going experience.

Research

To understand the root of the students’ issues, we conducted research that involved surveys, interviews, competitive analysis, and the creation of a user persona and journey map. Based on this research, we determined 3 key features to focus on: centralization, RSVP system, and personalization.

Prototype

I began the prototyping phase by creating a user flow and wireframes. The final app tabs include the home page, where users can see RSVPs, recommended events, and recent activity; the connections page, where users can follow other students; a discover tab for map and list view search functions; and a detailed activity tab for all interactions.

Design

For the design process, I opted for a dark theme with pops of color to appeal to the student body demographic. I played on the Cal Poly Pomona bronco mascot to create the app name “BronGo”, with the “G” acting as a call to action for students to get out and find new events.
